I'll be headed overseas soon on a military deployment, and won't have any kind of real internet during my time there. I'm spending my time educating myself on finance, and want to have some sort of real-time stock market simulator there with me that I can play with. Googleing has returned one result; RapidSP. While this program definitely appears to fit the bill, the website makes it feel less than legitimate and was hoping that either a) someone on here has used it and can validate it as a useful tool or b) someone has another option for me.
I've searched all over the internet for reviews on the program but I only get the vaguest of returns. One place mentioned that RapidSP didn't show volume, which, for intraday trading, seems to be very important.
As I said, I will have no internet, and basically just my one laptop and a pile of books where I am going. I want to practice technical analysis and would love some suggestions on software that I can use. I'm ready to buy this RapidSP program but at $100, I figured it was best to pose a question to those more knowledgeable than me first.

I usually swing trade FTSE shares with an average trade length of a few days and I'm happy with my results and strategies. I trade usually by spread betting. However the markets at the moments are too volatile for swing trading and it's a day trader's market out there at the moment. I've no problem switching to a shorter time frame but I tend to feel that spread betting may not really be suited to day trading. Direct access is not an option as stamp duty make day trading unfeasible.
So my question is does anyone day trade UK shares and if so how? The big advantage for me in trading UK shares is the time. Where I am located it is not feasible to day trade the US markets. I would also be open to looking at any other European markets.

Hi Everybody!, i just started small trading two mths back.Sometimes i feel like a yoyo.There r days when i feel 'high' n many days when i feel 'low'.If i hadn't done partime trading, i wouldn't know my real strenght n weakness.Doing realtime trading strangely makes me more aware of my 'true nature'.I may not make much $$ but ea day i sense an improvement in my patience,discipline n emotion.I wonder if u guys hv similar experience? Wish all members happy n successful trading!

Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and also to financial spread betting. I've managed to make a fool of myself already (financially) so have started reading the financial spread betting handbook by Malcolm Pryor. Great book and seems to be making sense. One thing I am stuck on is where to find (easily) ADX readings for UK stocks in order to try and spot trends. Is there any good (cheap) software that can help? Does anyone have any preferences on spread betting software? Is iii Quotestream any good? I'm with Finspreads - do they provide the information I need already?

I am looking for a Stockbroker service, and I am debating on Barclay's Capital and Halifax Sharebuilder. I am aware of Barclay's higher commission charges, which I am prepared to pay if the service is superior to Halifax. l wish to buy Exchange traded funds as part of my portfolio and I am not sure if this service deals with these transactions.

I have a question about stops:
I am trading ProShares (bear & bull )2X ETF's using 3 to 5% Trailing stops. I am getting whipsawed quit a bit. What is the best way and place to set stops in this crazy market on 2X and 3X ETF's.
